ORUM International wants this site to be usable by everyone, including people who navigate with a keyboard, a screen reader, screen magnification or speech input. This statement sets out the standard we work to, what we already know is not right, and how to tell us when something stops you.

It covers www.geniusmicrobialmonitoring.com and every page published on it.

The standard we work to

We use the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 at level AA as our reference. These are the guidelines adopted by the European harmonised standard EN 301 549, and they are the level expected of public bodies across the European Union.

This site is a technical information site for professional users. It does not sell online and it is not a consumer service, so we publish this statement as a commitment we have chosen to make. We treat the guidelines as a specification to meet, not as a direction to move in.

Where we are today: partially conformant

Partially conformant means that some parts of this site do not yet meet WCAG 2.1 level AA. We know which parts. They are listed below, with what we are doing about each one.

What we know is not right

• Images without a text alternative. The photographs on the company history page and in the "About us" gallery carry no alternative text, so a screen reader announces nothing where a sighted visitor sees an image. We are writing alternative text for every image on the site. Target: July 2026.
• Menu items that are not real links. Several entries in the "Overview", "Solution" and "Performance" menus are built as script triggers rather than as links with a destination. They cannot be reached or activated reliably with a keyboard alone. We are rebuilding them as ordinary links. Target: July 2026.
• Form controls built as links. The send control on the contact form and on the newsletter form is a link rather than a button, so assistive technology announces it as a link and keyboard behaviour differs from what a user expects. We are replacing both with real button elements. Target: July 2026.
• A language selector without text. Languages are offered as country flags with no visible label. A flag identifies a country, not a language, and an image alone is a weak cue. We are replacing the flags with the name of each language written in that language. Target: July 2026.
• Heading order. On three pages a second-level heading appears above the first-level heading. Anyone who navigates by headings gets a misleading outline of the page. We are correcting the outline on those pages. Target: July 2026.
• Questions in the FAQ are not headings. The sixty-five questions are marked up as list items, so a screen reader user cannot move from one question to the next and cannot link to a single answer. We are marking each question as a heading with its own anchor. Target: July 2026.
• A link with no destination. The "Legal notices" link in the footer leads nowhere. We are publishing the page or removing the link. Target: July 2026.

What we have not checked yet

This statement is based on a review of the source of every published page. It is not yet based on a full assessment carried out with assistive technology. The following are still open, and we will update this page when we have results:

• colour contrast across text, icons and interface components
• visibility of the keyboard focus indicator throughout the site
• behaviour at 200% zoom and at a viewport width of 320 CSS pixels
• text alternatives for the product animations on the home page
• the cookie consent banner, which is supplied by a third party and which we do not control directly

How this statement was prepared

Prepared on july 2026 by ORUM International, on the basis of a self-assessment carried out by reviewing the published source of every page on the site. We will revise it as the work listed above is completed, and in any case at least once a year.
